Blas na hÉireann Success 2021

Blas na hÉireann are the Irish Food Awards in Ireland and they allow businesses of all sizes to put forward products for blind testing allowing small producers, like us, to compete against large scale producers. 

The Blas team do a great job at supporting the hundreds of tiny food producers all over the country, doing farmers markets, stocking local shops, creating a real movement, driving quality, sustainability and innovation in Irish food.

Nutorious was keen to get involved in the awards and in our first year of establishment, we entered some of our favourite items. The team at Blas na hÉireann worked tirelessly since March of 2021 to ensure that Blas went ahead under virtual circumstances. 2021 saw the competition in its 14th year and we were over the moon to hear that we had two products announced as finalists for 2021; Our beloved classic granola and our Coffee Kick Energy Ball.

The Blas na hÉireann awards are the all-island food awards that recognise the very best Irish food and drink products, and the passionate people behind them. The biggest blind tasting of produce in the country, the criteria on which the product is judged as well as the judging system itself, which was developed by Blas na hÉireann with the Food Science Dept of UCC and the University of Copenhagen, is now recognised as an industry gold standard worldwide.

In October of 2021 and through a virtual event on Twitter, we found out that we had won Silver and Bronze in the awards! This was a massive deal for us in our first year of establishment and we were very proud to collect our trophies at the Wexford Food Family run photoshoot on the Dunbrody Famine Ship in New Ross.
